This book includes sample meal plans and recipes that span the full spectrum of delicious experiences from soups to salads, traditional rice dishes to South Indian mainstays like idli and dosa, desserts to homemade beverages, organized by theme (full Table of Contents included). In the appendices, Prema gives you the scoop on how to make your own masala pastes and spicy powders, so you can make every element from scratch if you choose to. This is no ordinary cookbook. It is a celebration of the diversity and richness of the author’s journey with food.
Made with Prema is a culinary, cultural love letter, because food is the love letter that Prema writes to her ancestors, family and friends every time she steps into the kitchen. She writes this love letter to her South Asian sisters in Canada who created community for her and her family over the past 50 years. She writes this love letter to her family and community when they gather around the table, through each dish, filling their stomachs, hearts, home and lives with indescribable love.
The name Prema means LOVE in Sanskrit. Every single recipe brings you into her kitchen so that as you bring these pages to life in your own kitchen, you can be assured that the dishes you make are made with Prema - they are made with love.
